Several retail stores are still offering at least a few desktop systems that come with XP instead of Vista. The reasons for this are plenty, as vista has a lot of shortcomings. Some business and consumer customer have an expressed need for continuing to run the "outdated" XP. However instead of addressing these valid complaints Microsoft has decided that during the month of August they will be sending out secret shoppers to several reatail locations.
I work at Microcenter where we have one specific model of desktop that we are told the secret shoppers will be asking for. This model comes with the choice of Vista Business of Xp Pro. Not only does the system come with xp, but the restore cd, the only way to recover from a system crash on this system is a copy of vista business. If we even mention the fact that we carry the model with XP preloaded to a Microsoft secret shopper the store will be fined by Microsoft for $250,000 dollars. So even though we offer a PC with XP Pro we are not allowed to tell you we do out of fear that Microsoft will fine us for 1/4 of a million dollars.

I just put $45 of hard earned money into my gas tank. As gas prices soar to prices around $4 per gallon in most of the U.S. a French company is producing an air gasoline hybrid that runs mostly on the air. At speeds below 40mph the car runs completely on air. It can reach speeds of 68mph and can make it about 98 miles on air alone. Imagine driving up to the gas station and airing up your tires and then charging your car with air. It would cost about $2 to charge the tank. The car's only exaust is cold air witch is recyled as air conditioning.

Every good nerd has thought of it. The ledgendary idea of a GoogleOS. Well the guys over at Desktoptwo.com are bringing these fantasies to life in a flash based online operating system.
The site offeres a virtual hard drive that you can log into and access anytime via the company's home page. You can also upgrade to 5, 10, 25, and even 50gb for a yearly fee. The miniOS offers several programs, most of witch have to do with creating a blog or a website that is hosted through your OS. This makes things like creating a blog braindead easy. You can also launch web based versions of open office and adobe reader. All that combined and a nice flashed based mp3 player makes a pretty nice litte online desktop. Could this be the beginings of an onile OS age?
